Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP)
The Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) is a global network of researchers and policy makers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues. GTAP is coordinated by the Center for Global Trade Analysis in Purdue University's Department of Agricultural Economics.Current Highlights
2025 Short Course in Dynamic Global Trade Analysis "Applied General Equilibrium Analysis using a Dynamic Multi-Region Model" January 20 - March 14, 2025 | Purdue University |
|||||||||||
Purdue University West Lafayette, IN, USA |
|
||||||||||
The objective of this course is to introduce participants to dynamic economic analysis in an applied general equilibrium setting. This course is designed to provide participants with ample hands-on training with software that has been tailored for undertaking analysis using a dynamic recursive model. Participants will interact with economists working on global trade and environmental issues using a dynamic framework. The end goal of the course is for participants to leave with the capability of conducting and analyzing their own dynamic simulations. |
2024 GTAP Preferential Trade Agreements Course "Applied Policy Analysis on Preferential Trade Agreements" September 9 - October 20, 2024 |
|||||||
|
|||||||
The GTAP PTA Course is designed to provide professionals and students with hands-on, applied training in the analysis of preferential trade agreements (PTAs) using the GTAP computable general equilibrium model version 7. The objectives of the GTAP PTA course are to provide participants with an opportunity to develop their applied skills in the design of PTA experiments, the implementation of changes in tariff and non-tariff barriers, and the analysis of model results. The curriculum emphasizes an intuitive treatment of economic theory, provides structured experiences in manipulating and running the standard GTAP model within the RunGTAP software environment, and culminates in team-based research projects. At the end of the course, participants will have developed skills in the analysis of tariff and non-tariff liberalizations in a PTA. |
Call for GTAP Research Fellow Nominations
At each Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis, new GTAP Research Fellows are named in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of GTAP through:
- contributions to the GTAP Data Base, parameters, models and related tools,
- contributions to broadening GTAP through the development of GTAP CGE models and software,
- outstanding research using the GTAP Data Base and/or models, or
- contributions in advancing the use of GTAP strengthening CGE analysis and broadening the GTAP Network
Nominations are now being accepted from GTAP Network members who, in the past five years, have contributed to the GTAP Data Base, and/or presented a paper at the annual conference. If you fit this criteria and are aware of anyone who has made significant contributions in the areas detailed above, we encourage you to nominate them for consideration for the 2024-2027 GTAP Research Fellow term.

*GTAP Staff, GTAP Advisory Board Representatives, current GTAP Research Fellows and GTAP Research Fellow Hall of Fame inductees are not eligible for nomination.
2024-2 GTAP 101 Course "Introduction to Computable General Equilibrium Modeling in the GTAP Framework" September 2 - October 20, 2024 |
|||||||
Coursework based on: Introduction to Computable General Equilibrium Models, 3e by Mary E. Burfisher |
|||||||
The objective of the GTAP 101 course is to engage participants in an active, team-based process of learning about the GTAP computable general equilibrium (CGE) model and its use in applied economic policy analysis. The curriculum emphasizes an intuitive and graphical treatment of economic theory in the CGE model and provides structured experiences in running the standard GTAP Model, v7 within the RunGTAP software environment. |

Meeting Global Challenges Together
Food. Water. Energy.
Three basic needs. But getting these necessities to the right places, at the right times, in the right amounts, without harming people or the environment, is a monumental task. And some of the conditions of modern life — climate change, war, pandemics — have made it even more difficult.
Researchers in the College of Agriculture and across Purdue are responding to the issues of climate, food, water and energy security from different angles. Increasingly, they’re doing it together, using a variety of interdisciplinary frameworks to enhance innovation, because an interconnected world needs interconnected solutions.
